Apolo Robin Nsibambi (born
November 27,
1938) is the current
Prime Minister of
Uganda, a position he's held since
5 April 1999. He was previously education minister from May 1998 to April
1999 and minister of public services from 1996 to
1998.
Before becoming a minister he was the director of the Institute of Social Research at
Makerere University. Professor Nsibambi has also served as the Chancellor of Makerere University since 2003 till October 2007. He tutored at the University in the 1960s, befriending author
Paul Theroux, who interviews Nsibambi in his travelogue
Dark Star Safari.
